Sweet Sixteen-Month Day!
I haven't really kept up the month day posts since Reese's birthday so this is a random sixteen month post which Reese celebrated yesterday.
Little Miss Reese is more fun and more challenging then ever. She knows exactly what she wants but has a hard time expressing her desires with words. i.e. She's a little fit thrower! I have realized that I am totally not equipped or prepared for handling these outbursts and many times I find them stressful. Clearly I should have read less books about pregnancy/breastfeeding and more about parenting toddlers:) How do y'all handle this?
However she is SO fun to play with. She loves to go outside and will stand at the door and beg and cry to go out. I love to be outdoors as well so we spend most afternoons playing outside. She is talking a lot and she makes us laugh with her words. Some of her favorites right now are wagon, dog, bird, NO!, yea, rock and ball.
She loves to ride in her wagon...
and of course Miss Independent also likes to push the wagon! She pushes it backward and says.."beep, beep beep." It cracks me up!
Lately I have been following a few friend of friends blogs such as this onePraying for Harper. As soon as I started reading this blog I immediately started praying for this little girl. Fortunately looks like she is going to be just fine but I know there are so many others who are less fortunate. Bob and I realize how blessed we are that God chose us to be parents to a perfectly healthy little girl. I just wanted y'all to know that I thank God every day for my fit throwing little toddler:) To Reese I say BRING IT ON! I'm gonna win! I'm afraid this may only be the beginning..Sigh!

I handle fits by ignoring or sometimes I explain to her in a very calm voice (it makes feel better to verbalize it)that throwing a fit doesn't help and it doesn't change things...if she wants something she can't have for example.
We taught her the sign for "help" and that has been a lifesaver.
She is cute and sounds like so much fun! LOVE the picture in the glasses!
I am right there with you! Kalie is a fit thrower too! When she doesn't get what she wants she gets so mad! she is 20 months old now! I can't say what works, but I do walk away and ignore it when we are at home! In public it's hard and thankfully we haven't had a lot of that yet...Good luck and hang in there! Sign language does help also! Kalie has learned many of them at daycare and we enforce them at home with words too!
Reese is so adorable! I know you are having so much fun with her! Summer will be here before you know it and we'll see you guys again at StrollerFit!
She is just so cute!
