Happy Thanksgiving

Some of our friends and family have been emailing me asking me if I was still alive because I hadn't blogged in so long. Sorry! Last week I was sooo sick..the flu hit me really hard and my mom had to come and take care of Reese for a few days. By the time I was up and around again it was time to leave town for Thanksgiving.

We went to Broken Bow, Oklahoma for Thanksgiving. If you aren't familiar it is about 30 miles past the middle of NOWHERE!! Seriously we were out in the sticks! We rented a cabin with my brother, his family and our parents. I was a little skeptical but we had a great time. We built a fire, roasted marshmallows and played outside a lot.

Reese had a lot of fun playing with her cousins. Story time with Uncle Chuck and playing with Andrew and Nannie were her favorites!

Happy Birthday Mommy!

A lot has changed in the past year. Here is what I got last year for my BIG 30! A 6 day old baby, a tired hubby and CAKE!!

Nike was still my "baby" and not only did he still get to come in the house, he gave me a present...such a sweet dog! Since Reese was born, Nike and Lady have been banished to the backyard or garage...mean old Mommy!

This year Daddy and Reese gave me some presents. Reese helped me open them with the help of Elmo and Dolly of course!

More Birthday Pics

Since I didn't take very many pictures of Reese's party I had to get some off my Mom's camera. Thanks Mom:)

Kids and presents everywhere:)

A new bed for Dolly which Reese LOVES....thanks Mimi!

Cousin Zach and Reese checking out the new pink piano!

Last but not least a SWIMMING POOL!!

As you can imagine every little kiddo who celebrates this much in one day refuses to go to bed!! There was sooo much going on around our house that little Reese just WOULD NOT go to bed. Finally as a last resort I laid down with her.....Mommy was clearly tired too!!

Thank you so much to all our family and friends that came to celebrate with us...Reese loves you all:)

Happy Birthday Sweet Baby Reese!

Tomorrow at 9:07 am Baby Reese will turn one! It seems impossible to me!! This has by far been the fastest year of my life. In looking back over the blog from the past year I realized that I didn't blog very much in the beginning and I never really said much about Reese's actual birth. I'm certain I was busy..go figure! Anyhow I want to document it before I forget and in case I get hit by a bus Reese will have her birth story in writing.

As my pregnancy neared the end Dr B. said that she thought Reese would for sure make her grand entrance into the world by Halloween. Needless to say that by November 6th when Reese finally arrived I was miserable, cranky and "done" being pregnant! In the week prior to her birth I tried everything to "evict" her. Spicy food, essential oils, walking, etc...and NOTHING! Finally on the night of the 5th I just couldn't fall asleep and decided to get up around midnight. When I got up my water broke and I woke Bob. We took our time and headed to the hospital around 1am. Since it was so late we had to be buzzed into the maternity floor and a nurse came to greet us. She was GRUMPY and she asked us what we wanted...Mr Funny guy, aka Bob, said that I had stubbed my toe and needed to see a Doctor. This made Grumpy nurse MAD and the evening only went downhill from there. Thankfully Grumpy nurse (who we nicknamed but I won't post it) went home before I delivered Reese. Being a first time Mom I was really scared and nervous about labor. It was so much better then I was expecting, I pushed for less then 5 minutes and was so relieved by how easy it was.

Reese has been a wonderful blessing to our lives. We love her dearly. I will post more pics from the celebration soon!

Reese for President!!

Well maybe in a few years:)) We did take Reese to vote in her first Presidential election the other day. Thank goodness we voted early because it was an hour wait last week. Not fun with a baby.

Somehow Bob took this picture with his phone which surprised me because I don't think you are supposed to have a camera in the voting area. I asked him how he took the picture and he said, "The old cooters don't know that phones take pictures!" Our early voting location happened to be at an assisted living center so the "proctors" were like 500 years old:))

50th Fall Festival!

We attended the last of our many Fall Festivals this year Saturday at our church. So maybe we didn't really attend 50 but it sure felt like it! I was recruited to bring a baked good for the bake sale. The baked good was supposed to be at the church by noon. With trick or treat on Friday night and the Gary Burns race on Saturday morning that meant I had to bake on Friday afternoon.

So I baked a yummy yellow cake with lots of gooey chocolate frosting and off we went to celebrate Halloween. After Bob took Reese to a few houses she went to bed and Bob and I hung out in the front yard with some of our neighbors (don't worry we have a baby monitor:)! It was close to 10 when we came inside so I rushed to get in bed so I would be well rested for the race. I came out to say goodnight to Bob and find him dishing up a nice big hunk of CAKE!!

Being the nice wife that I am I said it was ok and I would just bake some cookies or something really fast after the race as long as he would drop them off at the church by noon. On Saturday morning we pick up my friend Amy and head to the race (where we did awesome by the way) and on the way home Bob pulls into the nail place by our house and says he was going to treat us to a pedicure...Yippee!! Not only do I never turn down a pedicure I also NEVER turn down Bob offering to watch Reese so we head inside for some toe treatments:) When Bob and Reese came back to pick us up at nearly 11am I had an UH-OH moment! I forgot I was supposed to be baking..oops!

I quickly baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies and put them all in one of those foil trays and had Bob run them up to the church. He said that they acted funny and said, "are these for the bake sale?" Uh yes!!

Later in the afternoon when we went to the festival I realized that you are supposed to put the baked goods in individual cute little packages so neither an entire tray of cookies nor a whole cake was appropriate. Oops again!!

Needless to say I will not volunteer to bake anytime in the near future and I am thankful to be done with fall festivals for this year:)

Reese's First Halloween

Halloween has always been one of Bob's favorite holidays. He said he had waited 36 years to have a kid to take trick-or-treating so needless to say he was pretty excited! We started out the day with the costume class at Strollerfit. All the kiddies were so cute:)

Reese got to hang with her peeps Lily the ballerina, and Macie the bee.

Our neighbors had a huge block party so we visited the party for awhile before everyone dispersed to go trick or treat. Bob took Reese to a few houses on our street and I stayed home to pass out candy.
