The Fort Worth Zoo

A few Saturdays ago Reese and I took a visit to The Fort Worth Zoo. This was our first time to go and although it was a HAUL over to Fort Worth it was so worth it. The weather was beautiful, sunny but not hot and we really had a great day. We packed some lunch and snacks to try and keep things cheap. I don't know what it is about kids and Lunchables but this kiddo loves them. She wanted to eat hers as soon as we got there:)
After a snack we looked at the map and picked out what she wanted to see first. There was SO much to see we could go back and spend another day there. Her top priority was monkeys and elephants so we found them first.
After that we just roamed around looking at everything. Reese's favorite was this HUGE crocodile. Y'all know I am not a good photographer, and I was using my phone to take pics and there was glass there but you still get the idea:) This thing was massive..there were several kids standing staring at this thing for the longest time. This was kinda creepy!
As we were walking by the snake building I did NOT say a word and I was hoping we would just keep right on walking. I do NOT like snakes at all. I refused to go into the snake house as a kid...NEVER ever get near the snakes! But Reese noticed people going in and out and wanted to go...I told her they were snakes and it would be scary but nothing scares Reese. I considered paying a random stranger to take her in but quickly realized that was a no go so I told her I would only go if she held my hand and guided me through with my eyes closed. Ha! Little stinker thought it was hilarious that momma was scared. I'm not kidding those darn snakes will keep me awake at night....terrified!! Obviously no pictures of snakes but we did see this frog on the way out of the reptile building. Oh yeah..don't put money in him because he doesn't work!
My absolute favorite was this...
is that not the prettiest creature you have ever seen?! I love him! After that we had some ice cream, rode a train and just roamed around....
This big guy was just sitting in the window staring at Reese but he turned right when I snapped the picture. After that she said the gorilla and the crocodile were her favorites. Such a fun day with my kiddo...go check out the Fort Worth Zoo before it gets to hot!

Easter 2012

This year we had my folks and my brother and his family to spend Easter at our house. The weather has been beautiful and very warm so the kids were excited to get into the pool for the first time. The kids woke up on Saturday morning begging to get in the pool but I thought we needed to at least wait until the afternoon when it would be a little warmer. We were able to distract them with an Easter Egg hunt that Nanny had created. She did a special theme for each kid with puzzle pieces that led them to their big present. It was fun and as usual Reese doesn't really care about quantity of eggs. She wants to stop and open each egg to see whats in it:) Nanny hid the eggs so well that we had to enlist adults to find the remaining two eggs to complete Reese's puzzle.

Finally after the lunch we let the kids get in the pool. Uncle Charlie was the only adult to brave the cold water!

I had been sick the week before Easter, in fact I was sick for almost 3 weeks with Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. We didn't know yet what it was at the time but not only did I feel really BAD I looked really BAD, think..bad sores on my face. GROSS!  This along with the fact that it's hard to get 3 young kids to stand still for pictures there are not any pictures of us before church on Sunday. SAD! I did randomly snap this picture of Reese on my phone after we got home from church. Guess there is always next year for pictures:)
After all I think it's more important to remember the reason we celebrate Easter then to stress over getting dressed up and taking pictures. I am grateful for family and my sweet daughter to spend this day with and most importantly for our Lord and savior. Happy Easter!
