50th Fall Festival!
We attended the last of our many Fall Festivals this year Saturday at our church. So maybe we didn't really attend 50 but it sure felt like it! I was recruited to bring a baked good for the bake sale. The baked good was supposed to be at the church by noon. With trick or treat on Friday night and the Gary Burns race on Saturday morning that meant I had to bake on Friday afternoon.
So I baked a yummy yellow cake with lots of gooey chocolate frosting and off we went to celebrate Halloween. After Bob took Reese to a few houses she went to bed and Bob and I hung out in the front yard with some of our neighbors (don't worry we have a baby monitor:)! It was close to 10 when we came inside so I rushed to get in bed so I would be well rested for the race. I came out to say goodnight to Bob and find him dishing up a nice big hunk of CAKE!!
Being the nice wife that I am I said it was ok and I would just bake some cookies or something really fast after the race as long as he would drop them off at the church by noon. On Saturday morning we pick up my friend Amy and head to the race (where we did awesome by the way) and on the way home Bob pulls into the nail place by our house and says he was going to treat us to a pedicure...Yippee!! Not only do I never turn down a pedicure I also NEVER turn down Bob offering to watch Reese so we head inside for some toe treatments:) When Bob and Reese came back to pick us up at nearly 11am I had an UH-OH moment! I forgot I was supposed to be baking..oops!
I quickly baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies and put them all in one of those foil trays and had Bob run them up to the church. He said that they acted funny and said, "are these for the bake sale?" Uh yes!!
Later in the afternoon when we went to the festival I realized that you are supposed to put the baked goods in individual cute little packages so neither an entire tray of cookies nor a whole cake was appropriate. Oops again!!
Needless to say I will not volunteer to bake anytime in the near future and I am thankful to be done with fall festivals for this year:)
